When entering Oman, passports must be valid for at least 6 months and must contain no less than one empty page.

VISA requirements:

When arriving at Muscat International Airport, passengers eligible for Visa are able to make visa payments in the immigration arrivals hall. The single-entry 10-day visa will be charged at 5 OMR, the single-entry 30-day visa at 20 OMR.

Transportation & Car Hire

The money unit in Oman is Omani Rial. One Rial is divided into 1000 baisa.

Credit Cards:

All major credit cards are accepted, including - although to a lesser extent - American Express. ATMs are widely available throughout the country.


Arabic is the official language, but English is widely spoken. German and French are spoken by some hotel staff.


September in Muscat is characterized by temperatures ranging from 27°C to 35°C, whereas the relative humidity typically lies between 38% and 70% over the course of a typical September. The water temperature will be around 29°C.


Oman is a Muslim country and visitors should be sensitive to its customs. Women should not bare shoulders or show low cleavage. Shorts and skirts should ideally be below the knee. Covering the head is not necessary, except when visiting mosques. Men should preferably wear trousers outside hotels.


In Oman the standard power source is 240V 50Hertz AC. The Type G British 3-pin Electrical Adapter Plug is used.
